Enhancing the Quality of Private Universities, Two Professors from UHW Perbanas Serve as Speakers at a Workshop in Unutara

A team of lecturers from Universitas Hayam Wuruk Perbanas contributed and took part in an academic workshop at a private university in North Maluku Province. Entitled “Strengthening the Implementation of Outcome Based Education (OBE) Curriculum,” the event was held for the Undergraduate Chemistry Study Program of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Maluku Utara (Unutara) over three consecutive days, from Monday to Wednesday (October 13–15).

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at UHW Perbanas, Prof. Dr. Dra. Tatik Suryani, Psi., M.M., stated that this activity aimed to improve the quality of education through the implementation of an Outcome Based Education (OBE) curriculum. The initiative began with refining the curriculum, planning its implementation, and evaluating its outcomes, so that graduates are expected to meet the established graduate profiles of their respective study programs.

“This activity was designed for the Undergraduate Chemistry Program, but in practice, it also benefits other programs at Unutara, such as the Undergraduate Biology, Social Science Education, Natural Science Education, and Urban and Regional Planning programs,” she explained during the workshop.

Throughout the workshop, Prof. Tatik guided 20 participants through the process of developing OBE-based curriculum documents, graduate learning outcomes (CPL) evaluation guidelines, and supporting curriculum documents, including five newly refined semester learning plans (RPS).

“The participants included deans, heads of study programs, quality assurance center managers, and lecturers from Unutara. They showed great enthusiasm and strong commitment to improving the quality of their university,” she elaborated.

Joining her as a fellow speaker was Prof. Dr. Luciana Spica Almilia, S.E., M.Si., QIA., CPSAK, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at UHW Perbanas.

It is important to note that this series of activities is part of the Funding Assistance Program for Strengthening Private Universities (PP-PTS) Partnership 2025. Under this program, Universitas Hayam Wuruk Perbanas was appointed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) as a Mentor Private University to assist Mentee Private Universities, namely Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Maluku Utara and Universitas Bumi Hijrah Tidore.
