Students of the Master of Management Program at Universitas Hayam Wuruk Perbanas conducted a company visit to PT Amerta Indah Otsuka in Pasuruan Regency, East Java. A total of 32 students participated in the series of activities as part of the learning process and practical exposure to management practices within a world-class corporation. The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Dra. Tatik Suryani, Psi., M.M., stated that the purpose of the company visit was to broaden students’ knowledge, particularly regarding best practices implemented by multinational or world-class enterprises.
“The vision of the UHW Perbanas Master of Management program is to excel at the global level; therefore, students must understand the management processes applied in multinational companies,” explained Prof. Tatik in an interview on Wednesday (August 13).
Following a discussion with the Head of Corporate Communication Division, Glenn Leonardo Noya, the participating students were assigned to conduct analyses based on theories from their coursework, which were then compiled into reports and presented.
“The analyses covered perspectives such as human resource management, marketing, technology, and operations management. Students also reflected on best practices that they considered highly effective and relevant for application as future managers,” Prof. Tatik added.
She further expressed her hope that the master’s students would be able to implement these best practices in their professional roles.
“Some of our students are already working at the supervisory level, so they can immediately apply this knowledge through transfer of learning, even before completing their master’s degree,” she noted.
As part of strengthening their global outlook, students of the Master of Management Program at UHW Perbanas had previously undertaken international company visits to corporations in Singapore and Malaysia.
A Master of Management student, Alfiah Indasah, S.E., expressed her appreciation for the warm welcome they received from the company. During the visit, Alfiah and her peers were introduced to the production process, business operations, quality standards implementation, and business strategies delivered by the Corporate Communication Division of PT Amerta Indah Otsuka.
“We hope this activity will serve as motivation for master’s students to continuously enhance their managerial competencies, prepare to compete in the professional world, and foster stronger collaboration between academia and industry,” she remarked. (eko/pr)
